The 8-10 km (5-6 mile) Godley Head loop track follows rugged coastal cliffs and sweeping harbour views, taking in restored WWII coastal defence gun emplacements, Scott's Cabin, and panoramic views across Pegasus Bay, Lyttelton Harbour, and the Southern Alps. Enjoy snacks and a gourmet picnic lunch in a scenic location while keeping an eye out for seals, dolphins, and native birdlife.

Itinerary

After being picked up by your private guide in an SUV, head to Sumner Beach for hot drinks at our local seaside suburb. Sit out on the deck admiring the ocean and Cave Rock.

A beautiful black sand surf beach, with quaint little baches is the starting point of our walking track. Your guide will provide walking poles, bags, lunch, snacks and water before you set off.

Walk around the stunning Godley Head, undoubtedly one of Chrsitchurch's most beautiful walks. This 8 km loop track will take around 3 hours walking, with lots of time to stop and enjoy the scenery.
It is a well-established track, full of history and beautiful coastal views. You will see Scott's Hutt, an Antarctic Cabin, WW2 Gun Emplacements, a penguin colony, and visit Boulder Bay, a quaint beach accessible only by foot, where you will enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch.
Note: The remaining time is for the round tour and time spent sightseeing or explorations.
